How to Clean Windows Properly (2026 Guide)

Professional Window Cleaning: The Tools and Techniques That Matter in 2026

Cleaning windows professionally since 1999, I've identified the two critical factors that separate crystal-clear windows from frustrating streaks: proper tools and proven technique.

The Tool Problem: Why Most People Struggle

1. Squeegee Rubber Quality

• Worn or damaged rubber leaves streaks no matter your technique
• Old rubber loses its flexibility

Solution: Replace your squeegee rubber regularly.

2. Improper Soap Water Application

• Use the correct soap-to-water ratio (too much soap = residue and streaks)

The Technique Gap: What Professionals Know

For Beginners: Master the Fundamentals

• Top-to-bottom strokes for vertical windows
• Side-to-side technique for challenging angles
• Proper overlapping to prevent water lines
• Consistent pressure and speed
